i3 Grant

Our site has been involved in a multi-year i3 grant project to bring the College-Ready Writers Program to more districts in our state. Here is some information about that grant-funded work:

Collaboration Between Local Writing Project Sites and Partner Districts
National Events: Early Start Districts
June/July 2018: National Partnership Launch January/February 2019: Mid-Year Partnership Meeting June/July 2019: Year 2 National Partnership Launch January/February 2020: Mid-Year Partnership Meeting
2017-2018 | Planning for Research
Spring/Summer 2017

  • ●  Call with writing project site leaders to confirm district participation

  • ●  SRI will contact district to provide details about the evaluation

  • ●  Writing Project sites begin preparing for professional development

Fall 2017
● Writing project site leaders make visit to faculty meeting to meet participating teachers and
administrators and other district stakeholders Winter/Spring 2018

  • ●  SRI randomization to identify early and late start districts

  • ●  Writing Projects facilitate asset and needs assessment process for early start districts

  • ●  District and Writing Project Site leaders begin planning for local professional development in
    early start districts
    2018-2019 | CRWP for Secondary Teachers
    Goals 2018-19
    English Language Arts teachers, Grades 7 – 10:

  •   Complete at least 45 hours CRWP professional development

  •   Teach at least 4 cycles CRWP argument writing and revise 2 of these

  •   Analyze students’ writing using the Using Sources Tool, at least twice
    Summer 2018

● Launch of local professional development in early start districts
Fall 2018– Spring 2019
● Local professional development continues for English Language Arts teachers
2019-2020 | CRWP for Upper Elementary and Secondary Teachers
Goals 2019-20
English Language Arts teachers, Grades 4 – 10:

  •   Complete at least 45 hours CRWP professional development (this is an additional 45 hours for grades 7-10)

  •   Teach at least 4 cycles CRWP argument writing and revise 2 of these

  •   Analyze students’ writing using the Using Sources Tool, at least twice Summer 2019

● Launch of local professional development for grades 4-10 in early start districts Fall 2019 –Spring 2020

  • ●  Local professional development continues for grades 4-10 in early start districts

  • ●  Plans for sustainability beyond CRWP funded activities

 

National Events: Late Start Districts
June/July 2020: National Partnership Launch for late start districts January/February 2021: Mid-Year Partnership Meeting for late start districts
Local Partnership: Late Start Districts 2020-2021
Goals 2020-21
English Language Arts teachers, Grades 4 – 10:

  •   Complete at least 45 hours CRWP professional development

  •   Teach at least 4 cycles CRWP argument writing and revise 2 of these

  •   Analyze students’ writing using the Using Sources Tool, at least twice
    Spring 2020

 Local Writing Project facilitates Assets and Needs Assessment Process in Early Start Districts,
following the collection of final teacher and student data Summer 2020
